August 15th Monthly Meeting - Senator Bryan Hughes will address Election Integrity

Election Integrity - What is it?
Join fellow Republicans for dinner and guest speaker
Senator Bryan Hughes, Texas Senate District 1. His topic will be on Election Integrity in Texas

  • “Easier to Vote, and harder to cheat” laws passed in the 87th Legislature
  • Impacts of those laws in 2022 elections
  • Issues to be addressed in the 88th Legislature

Senator Hughes authored the six-week abortion ban and the election integrity bills that were passed into law during the 87th Legislature.

Senator Hughes is serving his second term as Senator from Senate District 1, representing 16 counties in North East Texas.  He currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on State Affairs and as a member of the Education, Jurisprudence, Natural Resource & Economic Development, Nominations, and Redistricting Committees.

Before being elected to the Senate in 2017, Senator Hughes served in the Texas House, as Representative House District 5 from 2003 to 2017.

Born and raised in East Texas, Senator Hughes attended Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler, becoming the first in his family to receive a college degree. He earned his law degree from Baylor University and obtained a prestigious clerkship with U.S. District Judge William Steger. Following his service to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Bryan entered private law practice in Mineola, which he still maintains today.

He has been honored as Baylor Young Lawyer of the Year and Outstanding Alumnus of both Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler. For his service in the Texas Legislature, Senator Hughes has received the Taxpayer Champion Award, Defender of the American Dream award, and the Horizon Award from Texas Right to Life. Mothers Against Drunk Driving has honored him as their Legislator of the Year, and the American Conservative Union consistently has given him their highest rating.
